Arios Gundam GNHW/M vs Kyrios Gundam: Which HG00 Kit Is Superior?

The Gundam 00 HG lineup is packed with iconic mobile suits, but two of the most beloved are the Kyrios Gundam and its successor, the Arios Gundam GNHW/M. Both kits offer distinct aesthetics and playstyles, making the choice between them a tough one for collectors and builders alike. In this comparison, we'll break down their design, articulation, accessories, and overall value to help you decide which HG00 kit deserves a spot on your shelf.

Whether you're a fan of the agile Kyrios or the heavily armed Arios GNHW/M, each kit brings something unique to the table. We'll examine the fine details, build experience, and display potential to give you a clear picture of what to expect. By the end, you'll know which one aligns with your preferences—and your wallet.

Design and Aesthetics: Kyrios vs Arios GNHW/M

The Kyrios Gundam is a sleek, transformable mobile suit that emphasizes speed and agility. Its design features sharp, angular lines and a predominantly orange color scheme with white and gray accents. The HG00 kit captures this perfectly, with clean panel lines and a slim silhouette that screams 'high-speed combat.' The Kyrios also includes its iconic shield and GN Beam Submachine Gun, which add to its tactical look.

On the other hand, the Arios Gundam GNHW/M (Heavy Weapon/Missile) takes the base Arios design and packs it with additional armaments. This variant features extra missile pods, a larger GN Beam Rifle, and a more aggressive stance. The color scheme is similar to the Kyrios but with darker tones and more red accents, giving it a menacing appearance. The kit includes a wealth of accessories, making it a display centerpiece for fans of heavy weaponry.

• Kyrios: sleek, streamlined design with a focus on speed
• Arios GNHW/M: bulkier, heavily armed with missile pods and extra armor

Articulation and Build Experience

Both kits feature the standard HG00 articulation, including multi-axis joints in the arms, legs, and torso. The Kyrios benefits from its simpler transformation—its flight form is achieved by folding the legs and arms, which doesn't compromise articulation too much. However, the kit's slim design can make it feel a bit fragile during handling, especially around the waist area.

The Arios GNHW/M, being a heavier variant, has a more robust build. The additional missile pods and armor pieces add weight, but the joints are designed to hold them well. The transformation is more complex, involving the rearrangement of the missile pods and wings, which can be a fun challenge for builders. The kit also includes a display stand adapter, making it easier to pose in flight mode without worrying about balance.

• Kyrios: easier transformation, but slightly delicate waist
• Arios GNHW/M: more complex transformation, but sturdier and better balanced

Accessories and Play Value

When it comes to accessories, the Kyrios comes with its standard GN Beam Submachine Gun, a shield, and a GN Beam Saber. These are enough for classic poses, but the kit lacks the extra firepower that later HG00 releases have. For builders who enjoy customizing, the Kyrios offers a clean canvas for panel lining and decals.

The Arios GNHW/M is a treasure trove of weaponry. It includes the GN Beam Rifle, two GN Missile Pods, and a pair of GN Beam Sabers. The missile pods can be attached to the arms or legs, and the kit even includes effect parts for the missile launchers. This makes it a fantastic choice for action-packed displays. Additionally, the kit's compatibility with the G-Rework MG Stark Jegan Decals might not be direct, but waterslide decals from brands like G-Rework can enhance the detail on either kit if you're willing to experiment.

• Kyrios: standard loadout, great for beginners
• Arios GNHW/M: extensive arsenal, perfect for dynamic poses

Value for Money and Availability

Price-wise, the Kyrios is generally more affordable, making it an excellent entry point for those new to HG00 kits. Its simpler design and fewer parts also mean a quicker build, which is great for a weekend project. However, if you're looking for a kit that offers more play value and display options, the Arios GNHW/M justifies its higher price with the sheer amount of accessories and the more intricate build.

Both kits are widely available, but the Arios GNHW/M might be slightly harder to find due to its popularity. If you're considering adding other Gundam 00 kits to your collection, you might also want to check out the Figure-rise Ultraman B Type (Limiter Release Ver.) as a fun crossover build, or the Moderoid Galient Heavy Armor Kai for a mecha variety. But for this comparison, focus on what you want from your HG00 experience.

• Kyrios: budget-friendly, quick build
• Arios GNHW/M: premium price, but packed with features

Ultimately, the choice between the Arios Gundam GNHW/M and the Kyrios Gundam comes down to your priorities. If you value a sleek, fast-looking suit that's easy to build and display, go with the Kyrios. But if you want a heavily armed powerhouse with extensive accessories and a more engaging build, the Arios GNHW/M is the superior pick. For most collectors, the Arios GNHW/M offers the best value for its price, especially if you enjoy dynamic poses and weaponry. So, which will you add to your collection?
